James (Jamie) Guy, 45,
a veteran taxi driver along the Grand Strand of SC was found dead in his limo along Hwy 57, between Florence and Myrtle Beach, early this morning.
Jamie had been reported missing yesterday by his wife Suzie Guy. She had been staying in Florence, SC with Jamie’s parents, helping take care of his sick mother while Jamie stayed in Myrtle Beach and drove taxi for a living.
Jamie’s last contact with anyone was with his wife at 1:PM on 4-15-08. She was in Florence and Jamie in Myrtle Beach. Jamie told Suzie he was on his way to work, but never reached the cab stand.
Yesterday (4-16-08) Suzie traveled to Myrtle Beach looking for her missing husband. She never found him. She knew something was wrong. We all knew something was wrong! That just wasn’t like Jamie to go missing. Suzie called every one that she could think of and put the word out. We all started keeping our eye and ears peeled and began to search for Jamie.
I just got the news about 4:30 PM today.
I called Jamie’s parents house and spoke directly to his father. His father could only tell me that just after midnight (this morning) the Highway Patrol came to his house and told the family that they had found Jamie dead in his limo along Hwy 57, between Florence and Myrtle Beach. That is all they know at this time.
He is survived by his wife Suzie Guy, His parents of Florence, 1 handicapped sister, an 18 yr old niece and a 22 year old Nephew.
When I get more details on this I will update.
Jamie is well known and well liked along the Grand Strand! He has been a cab driver for at least a couple of decades. Jamie and Suzie once had their own Karaoke show that they operated in several local watering holes for a while. Jamie is one of the most kind hearted people you will meet. He’s honest and reliable.
Jamie and Suzie both played roles in the upcoming movie “The Bleeding”, by Kluckin Films, due to be released later this year. Dwayne King, a long time friend and the editor made the statement, “It’s going to be hard to finish editing The Bleeding, seeing him on screen like that“.
Jamie had acquired a limo for $1.00, a few months ago. The previous owner of the limo (Evans) was one of the American Cab Managers and decided that the repairs needed (not much) and lack of driver to maintain the expense was just too much. Evans told Jamie he’d sell him the limo for $1.00. Jamie took the deal. It was no time till Jamie had the limo up and running. He had planned to run it as a limo service, but was only using it for personal transportation in the mean time.
As I write this (5:20 PM EST) I just got a text from Suzie. She plans to have Jamie’s remains cremated, have a memorial service & spread his ashes. I’m not sure when or where. But I will keep you updated as I know more.
(I wish my phone would allow me to make/receive phone calls. I have to rely upon Dwayne’s phone for that. He’s currently at the Beachside/Diamond office in a mandatory drivers meeting.)
Jamie we will miss you DEARLY and are doing everything we can to help your family get through this trying ordeal.
NOTE:
Jamie and Suzie do not have insurance and are accepting donations to help fund the services.
